STONE AGE WANDS
In the country triangle of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, a large number of strange, rod-shaped structures are distributed over an area of around 35,000 square kilometers. A double line connects two or mostly three round mounds that look like burial mounds to me. Lengths of 150 meters are not uncommon and I have even measured a rod over 250 meters long. Are they related to the strange "pendandts" of the arabian peninsula? If so, the wands here seem a lot more archaic than their lightweight brethren across the Red Sea. Is this perhaps the original form and over there we see the lightweight construction of later eras?These are all just thoughts, because despite all my googling, I have not been able to find anything about these structures on the internet. I'm sure that's also because I don't know what archaeologists call them. What was the significance of these strange poles, many of which are so large that they can only be seen from the air?
